A Lowestoft MEGA arrived on the 10.10.10 in the form of an Isabelline Wheatear.
Only the fourth record for Suffolk, this bird was discovered by the old net posts, where the fisherman of yester-year used to dry their drift nets.
Normally found around Greece and warmer climates this rare vagrant showed well all day until dusk.
The birders that took their chance were rewarded with excellent views, and it was just as well they did as the bird was gone the following day!
Without doubt this is a welcome visitor, and a valuable tick on the Suffolk list!!
