Should we say
"Yes or No"
to the (re)introduction of Sea Eagles along the Suffolk Coastline?
This is proving to be a hot topic amongst local birders and residents.
Incase you haven't heard about this.
Natural England is planning on releasing Sea Eagles along the Suffolk Coastline at the rate of 20 young birds per year, over the course of 6 years at a cost of £600k!!
Before making your choice, here are some points to consider....
Farmers strongly against it.
So was RSPB Minsmere.
Would they take livestock?
Would they take small dogs?
Would they boost the local economy?
4th biggest Eagle, what a spectacle?
Livestock is replaceable, Eagles are not?
Eagles co-habit with people on the continent.
Norfolk said "No" and won

STOP PRESS!!
I have just heard on Radio 2 today (14/06/10) that Natural England are putting the re-introduction scheme on hold as they are unable to commit to the long term investment required after the birds are released.
Whether this is down to the economic downturn, or the constant lobbying against the scheme by local farmers I'm not sure, but it seems that regardless of people being in favour or not it was all just a complete waste of everyones time......
However, I'll keep the web poll running for now, so please do vote if you have a view on this topic.
Latest voting results, as of 14/06/10 show 19 in favour as opposed to 11 against.
