Waveney Forest is situated on the outskirts of the village of Fritton, Norfolk.
Fritton is a small village, situated in between Haddiscoe and Belton.
Finding the forest is a little challenging, but once you get to Fritton it isn't too bad.
If you are heading there from the south, its probably best to head to Lowestoft and then onto Fritton. If you are heading from the west, then head towards Great Yarmouth and then onto Fritton.
Fritton is situated on the A143, and a small map of the area can be found HERE
When you get to Fritton, look for a turning onto "New Road," Drive to the bottom of this road, until you see a 5 bar gate. Park your car and continue on foot past the gate. As you walk you will see the Wardens lodge on your right. Keep on walking straight until you can see the river infront of you. Then look to your left and there is a path. Follow this path until you can see a clearing at the edge of the forest. This is the viewpoint, locally known as "The Mound"
There is plenty to be seen. Marsh & Hen Harriers, Bearded Tits to name a few, and in winter Short Eared Owls patrol the marsh!
Do take a scope with you as viewing can be distant!
Here are a few distant photos!
