Some time early in the new year i will be looking for a new digiscoping camera and being a fan of the compact method  the first camera to catch my eye is the Nikon 1 V1. my set up is a Opticron ES 80 GA scope with HDF T 23X eyepiece. An expensive camera I know, but I believe it has a viewfinder similar to an DSLR - any good for the job ?

Hi Dave,

The Nikon 1 V1 works very well for digiscoping. Check out the Digiscoping group on Facebook. A lot of the digiscopers on there use this camera.

Connection is you only real issue to think about,

Regards,

Danny.

I'm pretty sure that the V1 will have a filter attachment thread around the lens, the only question is which adapter would you use to connect it to your scope.

You may need an adapter sleeve making, in which case SRB Griturn can help you.

Do register on Facebook (if you're not already) and look at the digiscoping group. Many use the V1, Kevin Bolton is one of them. He will be able to offer advise to you.

Regards,

Danny.
