About Me

I have been a birdwatcher and amateur photographer since my early teens although work and other pressures have made these a rare treat over the years. I've just ordered my first scope and have since discovered the existence of digiscoping and are keen to learn.

About Me

http://colsdigiscope.blogspot.com/

I am based in Darlington and do my birdwatching around Co. Durham and Teesside area, which gives a full range of habitat from Moors to Farmland to Estuary and Cliffs. I have been digiscoping for about 6 years in total and currently use a Swarovski 80 HD combined with a Nikon P5100. This is an ideal set up and am getting great results now.

Favourite birds are Shrikes and Kingfisher, along with Owls

About Me

I am a 68 year old Retired Engineer.

I got hooked on spotting scopes & cameras some 13 years ago. Things were very different then as I only had time for what was then just a part time hobby & general interest.

Having taken an early retirement package & only needing to work 3 or 4 days a week, my extra free time enabled me to get out & about & enjoy the local Nature & Wildlife.

It wasn’t long before I developed an interest in what is referred to as digiscoping.

The desire to achieve greater detail & images of wildlife that are not normally viewable with the human eye drove my interest into a passion. I was hooked on the search for excellence.
